84 to 85 up 22r block deck height

Ive got a block from an 84 pickup, a taller deck 22r, I saw on the net where people are saying that i can simply just deck the top of the block down to where the it is the same deck height from crank center as the 85 and later blocks anyone tried this?

I think it is to tall to shave, I have one in my garage and I think it is 1/8 to 1/4 inch taller.

Nope, they are totally different blocks and do not interchange. You timing chain will not fit anymore, your p/s, a/c alt brackets are different, timing covers are different....blah....blah.... you get the point.
