3/4 fit on 1/2 ton?

3/4 fit on 1/2 ton?
so i ordered a brake booster that is for a 3/4 ton and mine is a 1/2 ton. so is that the reason that the push rod is too long or do i just need to adjust it? or should i just return it and get the one for 1/2 ton models? is there really any difference between the two?
