22RE Question Need Help

Alright Guys,
I have an 1985 Toyota ex-Cab and fairly new 22RE. I put new plugs, pug wires o2 sensor, and TPS in it. Also checked the the timming and its dead on. Checked vacum has no leaks, and check compresion and its good too. my problem is everytime i hook up the TPS it shuts off. If anyone has any idea of whats going on let me know.

Thanks Josh

Ok so i thought it was the mas air flow but its not. I did get the TPS adjusted right and it pluged up and idles fine. The truck cranks up fine idles fine but when you start to give it throttle its like its fooding out. and also it sometimes backfires. not sure what to do next cant seem to put my finer on the problem . Would the fuel filter on the block cause this? Im going to check it out tomorrow let me know if yall have some better ideas. Thank Josh

Is there a check engine light on? And does it happen when its been sitting a while? If so you need to check your coolant temp sensor and the sensor beside it its the cold start time switch or somethin....

ok where the coolant temp sensor is i have a hunch becasue this is what mine was doing the exact samething. have you messed with it before or recently? if so you mihgt have the wires mixed and or swapped try swaping them it my fix it and will cut the light out.... if not then you just got a bad sensor it will fix it trust me i had the exact prob.

Ok so im running into another problem. No part store can give me the right sensor. My motor has only about 3,000 miles on it the only backgroung info i got is that it came frome Jasper Engines. Ill post some pics of my sensor and let me know if you know what year i could get a replacement. My sensor screws into the top of the thermostat housing. Thanks

thats not the thermo sensor, at least not the one i changed..

the thermo sensor is on the front portion of the lower intake. theres two there, the one on the right(facing the motor) is the thermo sensor! the other is the cold start injector time switch..

hope that helps..

ok guys changed out the sensor and now it still wont run good it didnt fix it. Cranks up fine idles fine just wont rev up with out bogging down. Could it be the fuel filter on the block? It just seems like its starving for fuel when you give it more throttle. I know its not the pump cause i changed it out last year. Just let me know what yall think.

That sensor (atop the t-stat housing) is typically to cut out the A/C if the engine gets too hot. Is there a vacuum line connected to the fuel pressure regulator?

yea i looked it up. and yes all the vacume lines are hooked up in the correct locations iv printed off a diagram and made sure they were. also check the vacum and there are no leaks. The part store has a fuel filter in stock im going to get it and see if that helps.

Exclamation

Ok im Stumped!!!!!!!

Ill start from the top:

I took my 85 EFI 4Runner cab off and swaped it with a 85 EFI Ex Cab. Now im not sure whats wrong.
Ive changed:
*Fuel Filter
*Fuel Lines
*Plugs
*Plug Wiers
*02 Sensor
*Temp Sensor
*TPS
* Mass Air Sensor

Its still doing the same thing. It idles fine just whaen you give it throttle it wants to skip and backfire. This thing is driving me crazy i think if i cant figure this out soon i may have to call in a toyota technician for help. Ill take any sugestion so keep them coming guys i appriate the help.
