1st gen top

Hey guys well it was finally nice out this weekend so I took the top off the runner for the first time since I have owned it! I was wondering if anyone has painted/bed lined there tops? Mine is black and it starting to get kinda dull looking! If anyone has used something different than let me know. Or just write down your ideas! Thanks

I had to put a new coat on mine after I dropped it and had to do some patch work. I sanded the whole thing down and sprayed it in gloss black with a couple of layers of clear. It has a nice finish, but it shows the flaws in my fiberglass work, all in all though I'm happy with it. Other than hiding flaws in the top or scratches I wouldn't be big on putting a bed liner type finish on the top, however I painted the bed rails with a color matched hercu-liner to save it from getting scratched while taking the top on and off.

I recently painted mine with rustolim satin black, and took pictures

i sanded and primered it, then put a coat or two or the rustolim on it

Spary paint sound like I good idea I can do that but what jepprecovery said about doing the bed linner on the bed rails sounds like a good idea to!

What grit of sandpaper did you use? Did you spray it or role it?

I used Duplicolor spray bedliner on mine and so far it is working great. I like the duller black look. Figured that even if it goes bad after a couple years I can redo it for cheap. Here's a pic.

Or, you could just get some "tire black" and wipe it down. Believe me, it looks awesome and is a lot less work then sanding and painting.
