SCR's 80' Yota
Hey fellas, I've been looking at yalls trucks, and this is to everyone, yall have some nice equipment!
I'll have to post some pics of SAS we've done on some of my buddies rigs.
But I have a 80' short bed 4x4.
Stock 20r, nothing special. Currently weighing the advantages and disadvantages to either a built 22r or a 4.3 chevy swap.
Currently putting in a 5speed out of a 86! Gotta have that overdrive lol.
My truck has been sittin a year or so, tore my trans up last december 4wheelin lol, so I've just been beatin around on a ol nissan I got, which is no where near as great as a yota in the trails or on the road for that matter lol.

True, I'm thinking about just resto-rodding the truck. I like the body style of the 1st gens and mine is pretty solid for the most part. So a 22r with a lil cam and head work will probably be a fine d.d. and occasional trail and mud truck.
One of my buddies has a 22re in a Samurai he built. I know that thing is tough...was tough lol. He held it at 7.5 grand for I know well over 3mins at a mud bog 2 years ago, and still drove it home. Then it finally gave up this year at the midway mud bog.

You could toss in a 3rz or 7mgte. If I ever get some money together I think I would do the 3rz personally. It's a great engine imo. I love it in my 4runner. In a mini it would fly. Plus all you'd have to do is get a w59 bellhousing for your tranny. Easy said and done. Lots of info is available on this swap too. Maybe you could talk Toyota into giving you one of the 3rz off of the poor Tacos going to the crusher lol

The 4.3 is a monster engine. The 3rz can be but you have to do some $$ work to it. I was talking to LCE yesterday and apparently they build an 1800hp 3rz for a NHRA Scion TC. Granted that's probably out of anyone's price range on this forum but he did tell me that he wishes that he had a 3rz in his truck. Just fyi. I didn't think the 3rz was all that great before I talked to him. It's a little small to push around a 98 4runner....but I'll see how she does after I put a different cam and port the head.

The 3rz(2.7L) is a great engine. I know a guy who had one in his single cab taco and loved it. Think he had 31's on it. Ran great. Its one i've considered for my 86 yota . Anything is better then a chevy engine. Chevy swaps are for j**ps so they can try to go where yota go
