Ring gear

Hi, planning on buying an '83 p/u soon but it needs a ring gear and I'm having trouble finding one. Any other models have interchangeable one's in them that might be a little more common? Also needs an ebrake cable which i haven't asked around about yet. Thanks.

ummm stock tires? if so any of trail gear/ marlin will work, belive you can either make your own ebrake, but ur local parts store should have . If not look in the forms here people might sell you one.

2wd or 4wd? if it's a 4.10 ratio you should be able to find that gear ratio anywhere.

You will be looking for an 8" gear., don't try to fit a 7.5" on it..
be sure you are getting a matched one to your Front gear set. If you buy new you are most likely going to have to buy both a ring and pinion.
I have destroyed 3 rings gears in my years, twice the pinion gear was fubared too...
If you are going to do the set up yourself check out Zuk's website: http://gearinstalls.com/

I think your best bet would be to find a complete 3rd member..quick r-n-r.

Sorry I guess I mean the starter ring or just a new flywheel, the guy called it a ring gear when he told me what i needed. Any other trucks have those interchangeable with mine?

Those gear teeth are part of the flywheel, so just get a new one. Most any 22R/22RE flywheel should work.

Go to 6lug.com and ask him for a used one. A flywheel for a 22r shouldn't be to hard to find. I could find you one but I'm on the east coast and shipping whould be the most exp part of it.

If you want to be cheap you may be able to reuse the gear, remove it from the flywheel, flip it over and reinstall it. most likely only one side of the gear is worn. Ring gears are cheap, NAPA has them, I forget what they cost.
