dont get your hopes up,but in 2-3 weeks ill be doing an engine swap.taking the nice running engine from my 81 parts truck, putting her in my 82.
in febuary im buying 4 like new 31 inch dc mud country tires with 1k miles.
getting the 33's off.
hopefully all this will give more power to drive the interstate with ease, maybe boost my mpg from 12-14 up too 15-18.
also gonna ghect out the gear ratio on the 81 axels.
the 81 has 31 inch buck shots and weber carb, its alot more powerfull and excellent acceleration.
i know the bigger the tires, the more power you lose.

You can id your trans on the rag riveted to the firewall... looks good. A little decreasing and she will be good to go. Are you gonna put a new clutch/to bearing while its out?

degreesed quite abit,no pressure washer though.
flushed heater core for 30 mins,it was plugged up pretty bad...bunch of rusty/muddy crap came out.
ordered a new water pump and gasket.
nothing exciting.

making plans to come up with an adapter to install my mitsubishi 2.3 turbo diesel into the rig.
its a mitsu 4d55 td from my 87 ford ranger, the ranger put out a whopping 45-50 mpg,86 hp around 140-150 lbs torque.
revs to 7 k redline.
expensive to work on though....eats a $300 starter every 6-8 mths.
the 4d55 is going in the 82 or the 93 yota.

fuel pump, water pump, power steering all bolted on.
new cap,plugs,wires and rotor installed.

swapped alternators....thats when i found a problem.the last week i drove her,i had swapped the battery, and starter, only to still get jumped off everyday.
my volt meter showed 12-13 in idle, higher the rpm....the lower the meter read, down to 6 volts
someone put a different alt,and plug onto the stock harness, the white hot wire green connection was toast.
good thing i got a parts truck!
swapped the harness and alt, installed a good coolant tank ect.

all thats left is installing engine into truck, and fabbing up a throttle cable connection.
the weber's butterfly rotated the opposite dirrection as the stock carb.
probally figure this out before i drop the engine in.

hanging in place,20 more bolts,a few plugs,starter,hoses....ready to fire up.

heres the alt plugs that were wrong/ burnt on the truck....hope it didnt cause more damage.
and my ghetto engine pulling system for 1 man with limited stuff.

i just fired her up,figured out the throttle linkage, had to swap over alot of plugs on the harness.
the 81 has plenty square plugs, the 82 has plenty round plugs....same amount of wires, just different shape plugs.

the throttle is tight to push, due to my setup.ill redo this later though.
all thats left is the radiator/fan/shroud,change the oil sending unit, tidy up a few things...ect....then a test run.
wish me luck.
if only this rain would let up....lol
