thats what im thinking too.
i found a short disscussion on a guy with an 82 that had the exact problem im having.
he went through the entire harness,new alt and reg....found nothing.

his last post was in 03.....never stated the problem.

Start by placing a amp meter between the positive post on the battery and the cable. See if any current is flowing do it with the truck on. If you are drawing a lot of current then start removing one fuse at a time until no current is flowing. Shorts in the electrical system are very hard to nail down. Just keep disconnecting until the alternator puts out voltage. I wish I could be more help, but this is something of a pain.

hey man good work with the swap, i just picked up an 82 long bed for 750 in running condition, the bed is toast though!

been at work for 2 weeks,2 more weeks to go.
i was thinking about it today,what could be wrong,what can i do ect,wondering if a gm single wire will cure it....ect.

sofar...heres my problem list.
no charging
sticking choke

been awhile guys.
today i got her running,delt with a few issues,installed a old set of 30 inch buckshots,she rides alot better,more power.still not charging the battery though.it will get the gm single wire conversion soon.....if i keep her.
im willing to let her gor for $1800 right now....my 97 tahoe tranny is more important at the moment.
ill try to post a pic of the odd look with 30 inch tires...lol.

about a year ago I sold this truck for $1200,i been seeing her drive around town.6 mths ago I seen the guy who owned it put 38 inch tires on her....I recently got word the engine is blown the big ol tires was just too much for stock gears......im in contact with him now,possibly getting her back for $500.
