My 81 pickup

Well to start this forum is the reason i bought my truck and i am incredibly happy with the purchase so far. I look forward to improving it with the help of this forum and its members. Its gonna be a relatively slow process as im working on a budget, however i am dedicated and eager to learn. so in advance, thank you for the help and i will keep the questions to a minimum by utilizing the search as much as possible.

SO! This is what i got so far...

Weber carb
94 toyota truck transmission and transfer case
custom driveline
31" Tires
Magnaflow catback
Vented Front brakes
Warn manual hubs
Mirrors off a Ranger
Loud sound system

Plans:
5" of lift
33" tires
Gears to turn the bigger tires
Mount and modify my custom bumpers
Headers
low end torque camshaft
power steering conversion

any input would be appreciated. let me know whatcha think.

Power Steering Conversion: PM "TrekkerPaul', he had a complete set up on the floor of his garage and is local

5" springs: you don't need that high of springs to clear 33's...I would suggest keeping it lower...just my opinion

Camshaft: get a hold of Ted at http://www.engnbldr.com/

Post some pictures of how you took care of moving the Transfer case crossmember back to accomodate the 5" longer transmission.

Do I third? I like the Big tire low look on our trucks. Makes the guys with the fullsize trucks wonder why they didn't get bigger tires... or why they didn't go with a YOTA. Nice truck. I like the topper. color match it to the truck!

i guess i just wanted the lift for some extra clearance and flex. not exactly sure how much id need tho. plus it would be easier to go with more lift in case in the future i ever wanted to run bigger tires. i was thinking about doing the chevy spring sway mentioned on here, opinions?

Ill snap a few pictures and get them on here when i get the chance. I personally did not do the work. It was the previous owner. i currently have a picture of the new transmission mount if you want that?

As for where i found it. It was one of my dads buddys truck that he was selling. the truck more or less found me while i was searching for a 4x4 to start a build on. lol

i also really like that look on trucks. but i also like i said want to get some flex out of it. i dont know lol. ill see what i end up doing

If your going for budget you can do 63s in rear and rears up front and if you luck out around a 100 bucks for a good lift. and you could do 33's just fine. so many many options.

so just to clear something up i move my current back spring to the front when i put the chevy 63s in the rear?
and yes. way to many options, and not enough cash.

plus my stereo ˟˟˟˟ out today. so im gonna have to fix that first or ill kill myself on the way to work lol

edit: seems like a good deal on that trailgear. wish i didnt have to pay my credit card bill in the next few days haha

yes! please clear up. sorry, i'm trying to lift my truck too. the cash is always not enough though.
on the stereo side.. I have too much stereo.. PO put 2 8" subwoofers behind the seats. too much for me. one is enough if any at all. I'd rather have 6" speakers in the front and 6x9's behind the seats... perfection.

Yes you put your rears up front. its not just an easy bolt up though.
If you can pick them up at a good price less than 200 bucks for a lift.

here is EVERYTHING you need to know about this

Here is my truck, 4" springs up front, 5" rear (i would like it a little lower) on 33's:

on 35's:

guess one advantage is that I can clear 37's down the road

One thing to consider is that if you go trail-gear springs you will need to get the front spring mount, their springs don't mount in the stock locations.
the deal posted above is a good price IMO..as long as they have not been trashed..

Here is a picture of my 86 4Runner, it has 5'' lift trail gear springs in the front and 5'' lift 63'' chevy springs in the rear. No blocks or body lift. The tire are 37x12.50-12 MTR`s.

so i read through that link that BoredOutnJackdUp gave me on the chevy springs and it says youll gain about 2-3" of lift. does it all just depend on how you mount the new springs as to how much lift you achieve?

Also a quick question to everybody.
After spending a handful of hours up at our semi local offroading park, when i would push the clutch in and the engine would drop to idle it was idleing very low (between 200-600). While it did this the oil pressure would drop and the oil light would come on. i spent most of the day in 4low crawling around some trails. nothing crazy happened at all. it just started doing it. the only thing i can think of that might have had any effect on it was a slight overrev. The other strange part is that it did it the whole way home, but when i got back home it seemed to have stop doing it. Any input is appreciated thanks.

Yeah its where you mount the spring perch.

And it could be a clogged jet in your carb. Did it ever sputter out?

or your idle came loose and its super low.
