With ruf and chevy 63s i got 3.5 in of lift. Changes the fronr shackles but not the front perch.

Also i second the clogged jet or idle screw moving about.

Alright sorry for not giving quick responses on here. Ive had alot of stuff going on lately.

but anyways i think i solved the carb problem. It seems the guy that had it before me ran the two wires coming off of it to an aftermarket fuse panel deal. The fuse for the carb blew. after replacing it everything runs fine. Silly huh? I am still going to get at the carb and give it a good cleaning cause it seems like a good idea. Thanks for all the speedy replys. i think i need to adjust the fuel ratio a little, cause it seems to run a little rich.

As for the lift. im pretty set on the chevy spring lift. Just at this point the funds need to come in. had a big credit card bill i had to pay off lol.

x2 on keepin it a little lower fro 33s.when you regear, your better off to go 5.29s. that way when you bigger tires, you wont be undergeared. thats a swwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeettt 1st gen. love the wheels

So i have a few questions that i cant seem to find by searching around.

my front suspension is really sagging so i decided to go ahead and just do the lift. ive located some chevy springs and am going to start buying up all the parts i need to perform the lift... slowly. so far my list is:
Chevy springs with the shackles
Front spring hanger
longer shock absorbers
shims for pinion angle?
anything else?

so i my question is once the lift is installed, is it going to affect my steering? and will i need to change/lengthen anthing?
i am a poor 18 year old and want to run stock steering until i can afford the highsteer

Depending on how much lift you end up with, you might need a new drive shaft.

On the pirate4x4 faq it says 3-4 inches of lift, so if it gave me four do you think i would need a longer driveshaft?
if so the current driveshaft i have is a custom one that i believe is shorter than stock to accomodate the longer transmission.so maybe finding a stock one would do the trick.

any idea if the steering would require new parts?

Yes you are going to pretty much have to do crossover steering in order to not have to do some janky stuff to the factory steering since the front axle will be way forward of factory.

So I haven't made many updates on my truck for a while. I have just been doing research on here and pricing parts. However I am now almost ready to start dropping some of my savings on parts.

I am set on doing the chevy spring swap in the rear and doing rears up front. I am planning on buying low range off roads kit for the swap and I have already acquired the chevy springs. I have some days off from work coming up and plan on starting then. I would be more than happy to do a full write up documenting the process. Possibly even video it if anybody thinks it would benefit the community?

Now my questions (or thoughts for discussion rather) are as follows:
I read through the newbie modification thread and entirely agree that the steps for upgrading a vehicle should be as listed there.
However something I have found, many others have probly too, is that upgrades and modifications to a truck are very much linked. Ie: lift without tires is pointless, high steer without lift is impossible, tires without gears is alot less effective, gears without tires makes for a difficult drive... Yada yada.

Edit: not everything I wrote showed up.
Here's the rest.

So with me being on a limited budget I have been looking at what to do and when and the jumble of linked upgrades has left me running in circles.˟

My current plan is to go ahead and do the lift, high steer and associated tweaking required and find a set of 35" mud tires. This should cost me around 200 for the rest of the lift parts 350 or so for the high steer and steering box. And 500-1000 for tires. I am aiming for around 1000 dollars for this first step. Then I will have everything in place for when I regear and lock the rear end up. Plus If the bigger tires are driving mr crazy I can use my current ones until I get the drivetrain parts.˟

How does this sound to y'all?

I've picked up so many sets of 35's off craigs. Cheap too.
I found some 35x12.5 in aluminum rims at like 50ish percent that i traded wheel spacers for.
Nice find on the gears too!

Yeah I'm always shopping craigs for tires and other parts. I was also looking at treadwright. They seem like a really good deal. Anybody on here running those?

Before I say what I payed for the gears. What would you say would have been a good deal for em'?

i'd say 300 would be a damn good deal. but i guess it really depends on the brand of gears.
