crtzlow-
I'm thinkin I want to go that way, keep it stock looking. They do put those there for a reason, so there isn't a radio on the ground!
Although I'm going to junkyard to look for a tuffy today hopefully someone left theirs in when they junked the truck. But I'm putting 6.5" speakers in the doors, powered by an MTX amp directed by Pioneer HU Woo hoo!

ill deff keep that in mind.
lol funny story though (and sorry for the thread jack)
I've got an older bro (really good friend) who is really good with systems and installs them locally.
Last year i got a couple subs and an amp and he showed me how to hook em up.
well i wrecked that truck and took the system and installed it all by myself (in my new truck)
Pretty nicely if you ask me.
So i fire it up and the amps getting no power..wtf.
so that night i pick him up from work he looks it over, turns out the one cord i was missing was the darn remote cord from the headunit to the amp

i guess the kid thought the wire was for aiming the remote control at.
and another time i had my 2 L7 15"s and the 2 12"s in my 69 bug.
i had just hooked everything up. the works ,power capacitors, crossovers, equilizers a 4000w phoenix gold amp. i turned the car on and played about 6 seconds of a song when my capacitor reading went through the roof, then i hear a small pop like a knuckle cracking.
also smelled salty burning fuses and electronics. so i pulled every single component individually, and looked it over to see what fried.
everything looked PERFECT but i had no power at all..
well it turned out that my inline fuse near the battery had busted. but not in the middle where is visible, it melted away from the sides from the power surge and appeared fine.
installing that big of a system and then having to pull it again AND then put it back in.. big bag of no fun

alternate deck setup with toggles for the hots.
super easy to do..
its not the prettiest glove box job but i keep it shut when it plays.
dont mind the paint comin off.
im in the process of doing a full black interior and the paint was a temporary.

Can be found at Year One or JC Whitney (and a slew of other restoration places)

Get an amp, get a CD player from Futureshop or Radioshack. Get a Bazooka Tube sub, replace all factory speakers with Alpine's or JBL's and be done with it. i have no additional speakers (other than the sub) from stock and mine is pretty damn loud. But my exhaust tunes out the music to the people not in my truck. but inside it can get deafining.
