Over my Holiday vacation I had some time to love on the 83, I started grinding old paint, bondo and rust off the passenger bed side.

Then I applied a can of temporary primer, waitn on my budy to do some welding on it before i start fixing dents etc

Then i cut and buffed the front cap, Turned out pretty good for a poorly prepped, rush rush, 100 dollar paint job i put on it 9 years ago

Thought I might try and post some photos of the 83 I picked up last month at the local scrap metal dealer; didn't run, stop, move, have brakes or lights- now its a daily driver and I hope to continue to make improvements and fix things. The good part for me, living in the northeast-besides being a first gen, is that the truck came from down south- and has very little rust.

As I found it- with 315/16's

As it is now- stock tire size on 5.5" wheels

Where about in NY were you? Rust kills these old trucks here, I had this one sprayed with Rustop, a thick oily goo that prevents rust. I've used it for a few years on several vehicles and they don't rust.
I paid 1000, more than I think I should have, or more than many on here may think, considering the overall condition, but I'm a pretty good wrench, and can fix most things that arent rusted out.
Since then I've got it running pretty good, added a fuel pressure reg for the weber 38, fixed all oil leaks- when a previous owner added the double row and steel guides, they forgot the hidden bolt and cracked the casting below the head, we plugged that with some space age stuff my Yota Yoda friend recommended. Along with the crank seal we now have no leaks! Plus nice to know the engine has new parts inside and is going to last a while. I think it has more snap than my 22RE truck, must be the weber.
Now to track down some parts; a steering lock/ignition switch, the 4x4 emblems that go on the fenders, passenger window reg, etc, etc, etc.

Can you show some more photos? Just looks like a 2wd to me, so that's cool if you've somehow got a solid front axle under there with 35's! Clearly they aren't on in the photos.
