I bought this off a car lot around 10 years ago with a noisy tranny for $2500. Way to much at the time. Then I spent $200 on a junkyard tranny that turned out to be no good. Finally got a good trans for $500.Then the carb was acting up, I got mad at it ,so it sat in my back yard for about 6 years. About a month ago I put a weber on it , got it new for $230 and a screw fell out of one of the butterflies , sucked into the motor and did a bunch of damage. There went another $700. Just spent $1000 on new tires. I don't know what its worth but I've got a lot into it so far. The funny thing is I would do it all again because I love this truck. How stupid is that?

Feel like I saw a better thread about his truck somewhere but it was a long time ago and I don't feel like searching.
And yeah, as for the dent...this truck does rubicon and other trails in the Cali area. It's no mall crawler.

It's hard to believe I'm on pg.67 and haven't seen any Custom Cabs yet!
Here's my first car which just happened to also be my first truck / first Toyota / first Custom Cab / first truck I regret selling (like a young, dumb kid always does). Purchased from my Dad for $1000 in 1994. This is one of the only pictures I have left of it. Miss the old girl!

1983 Custom Cab, 3" lift, 33" tires, 22r engine.
Picked up this one last year.
1983 Custom Cab 4x4. 22r engine. Lift? 30"tires. Blue interior. Looks like a rattle can paint job. Built in Cali where it spent most of it's life. Then lived in Nevada for a few years. Now it's in Colorado and not being driven. Frame isn't rusty at all!
I have/had plans of restoring it to look like my first one. Life is trying to dictate that I not restore it. So, It may end up for sale. It also came with a cap. This is how it sits in my backyard. I drive it once a month for about a mile to keep everything lubed and in check.

And here's OLD YELLER!
22r engine, lift?, 31"tires, rusty bed, usual hole in dash for a radio, cracked dash pad, bouncy as all heck, stiff window. Just a trip to drive!
I pick up Old Yeller about 2 years ago. It just turned 200,000 miles last week! I originally bought it for 1800 to be a spare truck and eventually a donor truck for the Custom Cab project. It didn't take long to earn it's place in my garage. Now, it's primarily used to get the wife to and from work in the winter months. It is so much fun to drive around that I just drive it for the heck of it sometimes. It recently climbed to the top of Mt. Bross @14,172ft (where that picture was taken). The combined leaf springs with coil over shocks in the rear made it quite an unpleasant ride. I smacked my head a few times on the way up and back down. I don't use it off road much at all.

The future for Old Yeller is uncertain. I might try to put a plow on the front of it, I might go for a restoration, I might go for an off road truck. I'll probably end up restoring it into a capable off road truck.

Here's a pic of my fleet the one day I fit it all in my garage,

1983 Pickup
1983 Custom Cab
1995 Suzuki Swift - 48.9mpg
1999 Tacoma Daily Diver 2.7l, 4cyl. 3 in susp. 2 inch body. 31" tires. 230,000 miles

Thanks maistroyoda and brutalintegrity!
I think (wanna) might be too strong of a word to use. The agreement I made was that (Part 1) If I can get EXACTLY what I want in a 2012-13 Tacoma, I would sell the Custom Cab (TRD offroad w/hood scoop, 4door longbed, manual - can't be done from the dealership). However, Im sure not going to sell it or trade it in to someone who doesn't know or care about what it is. (Part 2) Old Yeller becomes the resoration project. If the CC does go up for sale Yotatech will be the first to know!

I, I, I, I am speechless.
