Actually I'm pretty sure it's the same truck, it's just this picture is black and white, and I imagined the truck to be black and white with white wheels!

Trixie

Here's my dd 1980 Toyota longbed. 22R, header, R151F 5 spd, 31x10.50r15s, 2 inch lift and also longer shackles. I bought her for 250.00. Although the engine was in the bed torn apart when I got her. Have made a few changes over the years since '01, but Trixie sure has been a good truck.

makes me miss my first gen I had a 1982 22r 4speed 4x4 short bed. no lift on 33s and welded rear end. it was unstoppable on hill climbs. had to sell it to build a truck that fits two kids and there momma... love my runner but wish i still had my 82 also.

Not going to say that it's not possible, but I personally, from experience, would never think of Old Man Emu as soft. However, they last a hell of a long time and can take tons of abuse, and what a great deal! Maybe going with their front springs and rear springs but different shocks? If you're going to carry quite a bit of weight in there, then it rides like a Cadillac on Old Man Emu. If it's just going to be a truck for fun, wanna do some hunting and camping and fishing and so forth, mild trails,... They will probably do you just fine. They are a bit bone-jarring on the speed bumps and such though. So just consider that in regards to daily driving.

If you really wanna treat it to some nice suspension, plenty of flex, maybe go for AllPro? Not a bad deal. Alcan & Deaver can be really pricey. Softer? --> RUF 86-89 4 runner rear springs up front with the proper leaf or so removed ... 63's in the rear.

And by the way, nice freaking truck!

I used OME springs with 5100 Bilsteins on my build and I think that they are going to ride rather nicely. Obviously I haven't driven it yet, but I don't even have the weight of the body on it and its seems rather soft when I bounce up and down on the chassis. They are certainly softer than any other aftermarket, stock length springs that do not require hanger relocation. By far, the best bang for your buck without modifications. A lot of people will preach the RUF mod and Chevy 63's, but that isn't necessarily for everybody - not that there is anything wrong with doing it like that. Some people don't have the fab skills or some people want a simple but capable daily driver without a lot of work or money. For me, I have the fab skills, but I wanted something that was going to ride well on the road, provide a modest lift and still be able to wonder offroad a bit for my restoration. If you are going to choose a stock length spring, definitely go with OME.

When I saw the truck on CL...I knew it was the one and jumped on a plane to San Diego to buy this gem.

After doing more and more reading...I think I am going to go with the old man emu...the pro comp lift is terrible.

Just passed smog today...hell yeah..that was a story...CA smog is the worst...

Anyone know a good place to get the lift installed...I am from Arizona and all of my tools and friends are back at home...a 3o pack and a couple of my home town friends and this truck would have a new lift and a rebuilt motor in a weekend. I am now in Oakland...I will be installing a machine gun mount on the back of the roll bar to shoot gang bangers at a later date.

Here are some more pics...

I've got Bilsteins on my 94 SR5, best ride of any shock I've ever used, I plan on putting them on all my trucks.

Nice! Where are you at on Oahu? My friend owns a house in Haleiwa on Sunset Beach. He lives down there during the winter so I went to visit a week before Pipe Masters back in December.

I just inherited this from my grandfather.... It's his/my 1982 pickup. It's more rust than paint and currently does not run, but she will live again. Beatrice never stopped until he did .
