Exterior paint color?

Hello everyone. I have an ‘82 Pickup Dlx 4wd short bed that is in pretty good shape as far as rust. I got a California truck that the PO told me had never been painted and originally white. Wrong, it had been painted! It’s originally Beige, color code 4A8. The interior is a tan/beige and brown color. The PO had cut some holes in the bed and recently living in Louisville my bed was shot up in the middle of the night. It has some rust that want to get in front of before it gets too bad so I need to repair the bed and paint it.

So my question is do I go back with the original beige color for exterior paint or do I go another route. I know I can choose whatever I want but I’m looking for opinions and ideas. Also I I want to keep the interior tan because it’s just too had to change it with the lack of parts availability. What all color exteriors match the tan interior?

Hi

It would be a shame not to go with original colors, inside and out. Besides, it will increase the value.

Cheers

for the most part I like to stay with original colors too, but when I think about it resale value never enters my mind

i think I would like to get the vinyl stripes/decals on like this. Can anyone tell me if these two are the 4A8 color code?

Toyota color reference here:

The original color of your truck is in the VIN tag, something like this in the engine bay:

I also vote for the original color!

Beige may look weird on a newer car, but looks right at home on an old Toyota pickup!

old87yota, do you know if the two pics I posted earlier are the beige color code 4A8?

The round headlamp truck was an 82-83 but had the headlamps changed to round. The 4A8 beige was only offered in 82, but there is also a creme color that is similar. I believe the truck with the square headlamps is a creme 83. I’m having trouble finding a good pic of an actual 4A8 color code.

Well I'm colorblind also

The image you added matches the Toyota reference pictures..

I'm fine with tan on tan and tan on white but cream gonna just look faded IMO.

It can be hard to tell the exact color from pictures when two similar colors were offered from the factory, particularly if one picture is facing the sun and the other is away from the sun.

Either way, I would be happy with 4A8.

Thanks for the reply. I agree. It’s awfully hard to tell what the color is when the pics are all in different lighting. Since the PO painted this truck at some point I can’t really get a good visual on which beige 4A8.

Regardless I plan to go back to the original color

Yes, original color.

@SomedayJ, isn't that truck "sexy without trying"?

Definitely go for the original 4A8. Stripes would be a major plus!

Meh. That tan is a pretty bland color. I vote fire engine red, and lose the stripes. Have some fun with it!

No, they are not. But I would give my right kidney for the one with the chrome rims, grill and front bumper.
