Dual shocks setup

Just got my 1983 few weeks ago and it has a dual shock setup per wheel. I am trying to figure out who makes this. The ride is a little stiff for me and i am not sure if jjust replacing a softer shocks will help or should i do a leaf spring exchange... anyone here has a dual shock setup?

I think Downey used to make one. With shock technology being more advanced I would bet you could get a single that would work much better.

thanks... i took few pictures of the rear while doing the brakes... looks like add a leaf to me... the ride is stiff for me... i want to fix it but not sure what lead spring and rate to put, considering the height too as I have 33” tires on it.

Id take the lift blocks off, see how much tire clearance you have and if you can still fit 33s, then measure your shock distance and find some kybs or bilsteins to fit.
but if you want to go thru and get everything, maybe do OME leafs

doing mostly city and occasional overlanding....

if i take out the blocks, the rear would be lower than the front.... i really want to take those blocks out but i need to figure out what leaf springs to buy to make the rear even at least with the front...

with OME leaf springs, I think I need to replace the front leaf springs too.... not sure how much lift there is on the front... i am guessing 3” to 4”....

Take a pic of your front leaf pack. The back has 2 extra and they didnt take the leaves apart to fit them in sequence, they just threw them on the bottom.
