20r L52-hd Bonding
Yestreday Bought A Stock 1980 4x4 That Is 100% Rust Free And The Trans Is Very Sloppy. Will The L52-hd Bolt Up To The 20r Motor And Stock Transfer Case? I Am Very Excited About My New Project And Will Have Some Pics Soon. Thank You For Your Help

yep. might need to clearance the splines on the t-case, to make it slide in all the way, but it's a bolt-up. you'll need to get the clutch fork, disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing slave cylinder, and hub for the L52 though.
also may need to enlarge the hole for the shifter on the tranny, it sticks up a little to the left of where the L43 one comes up.
the main reason the L43 gets sloppy is that the bushings on the side of the tranny that hold the stick wear out. i think you can get new ones from toyota(note: this isn't the standard shifter bushing setup like on most other toyota trannies, these are 2 rubber bushings)

Any time. I ran into this issue on a t/c i pulled out of an '80 parts truck. Big Mike of Marlin Crawler either posted the top two pics here or I pulled them from Marlin's forum a few years ago. This question comes up every now and then so I went ahead and saved'em..
