Oil drain plug problem. Need advice

I changed oil on my truck for the first time and now my drain plug drips. I redrained and inspected the Threads. The bolt is fine but upon inspecting the drain hole I noticed a section of thread completely gone. It's about a quarter inch high and 1/16 inch wide. It's a uniform and clean area without thread so I thought it maybe supposed to be like that. But it appears my drip is from that point. My local napa said they don't carry a oversize plug for the 22r's 18mm plug. Is that threadless area normal? Anybody experienced this and know how to fix? It drip frequency is too frequent for comfort. Above the threadless area I can see the threads go completely around in the pan drain hole.

Go back to napa and get a oil plug gasket. Their needs to be a fiber gasket there to seal against the pan.

When I removed it it only had a small brass/copper looking washer on it. Napa did give me a hard compressed paper type gasket that she said was for 18 mm but it didn't fit at all. Much too small. I'll try a different store tomorrow for the proper gasket.
