Question for you guys who pulled the cluster...

how do you unplug everything from behind the cluster to remove it? I have it all loose and ready to pull out but can't get behind it to unplug everything.
I loosened up the dash pad but does that WHOLE top dash pad have to be removed??

any help would be great as I have it opened up now.

thanks

You need to remove the speedometer first then this will allow you to unplug the 3 electrical connectors at the back of the cluster. To remove the speedometer, I was able to squeeze my hand under the dash in the area around the parking brake to access the speedo cable. As soon as the speedo is taken off, you will have a lot more wiggle room to take off the other connectors. I had a hard time connecting the speedo back on because there is little to no slack on the speedo cable. I ended up disconnecting the speedo at the transfer case allowing me to pull the slack I needed to connect it back to the cluster.

Thank you very much for your reply. I believe I seen it up there while laying on my back on the floor pan. Is it circular about 3/4" or so. Like blue or yellow can't recall but was a bright color? Sound right?
does it pull straight out? Or is there clips you have to depress on it?

it's weird the downloaded FSM doesn't say pull the Speedo cable first. What the heck.

thanks again. I got it out then was able to unplug the 3 harnesses.
Hopefully cleaning the Odo and little gears with simple green and using a bit of dry graphite allows the odo to move right again.

Yeah it's round, I think mine was white. No clips just pulls straight out and back in.

I thought about those but I prefer the old school warmer glow of the incandescent bulbs. The leds look like they produce a glaring halo. They are brighter though
