I recently had a.post regarding my tranny not going into 5th gear, but is there anyway I can tell what kind of transmission I have by just looking under the truck.

I have had my truck for a week now and there is a new issue now I'm trying to understand when I get to around 60mph it's making a loud roaring noise and a vibration and its not the tires . I can't tell if its coming from the engine or what but it is very stressful, the transmission want go into 5th and it makes a knocking noise when I let the clutch out, can this be the transmission making the horrible noise or what
