1980 longbed lift opinions
alright,im trying to find out what my largest lift, with minimal mods, besides springs, shocks etc i can get away with and get the best ride on and off road.no major wheeling this truck, logging roads and such. im lookin for feedback from the 80s trucks...my suspension is shot, origional springs and shocks,so you can imagine. ive definantly done alot of searching,im leaning towards OME....so fire away!!!! thanx guys.

I like the pro comp 4" lift, i've had it on both of my 1st gens and it rides pretty good for a lifted truck, it requires almost no mods just bolt on minus some little stuff it is also what I consider reasonably priced.

17toyotaman, was the 4" a bolt on kit? ive heard alot about requiring mods like a high steer, moving spring perches, etc. im just lookin for the best ride for what i have without hacking up my truck.i guess what i would like to know is how high can you go with just a lift?

Yeah its just a bolt on the front springs bolt right in, blocks in the rear with all new u-bolts front and rear, a new drag link for the steering, new braided brake lines, new poly bushings f/r, extensions for the sway bar, shocks, everything really.

get a 3in. lift with new springs front and rear. Get whatever shocks you want, and none are going to ride very smooth with the leaf springs at all 4 corners. With the 3 in lift, you can run 33in. tires, and the steering and front roll bar won't be affected much. THis is the easiest and cheapest.

I dont think you need to spend that kind of money on the shocks. Dont get me wrong i want those shocks on my truck. But you are not going to do that much offroading i would just buy a cheaper brand. Just my 2cents.

i got the procomp 4inch springs. for the front of my 85 4runner. i didnt do anything else to it expect longer shocks. bolts in easy and i got the springs new for around 100 for the set. you could run blocks in the rear to keep cost down or chevys for a smoother ride and way more flex
