What size jack stand would you all recommend for a 98' 4runner with OME and 33's? I was considering these at 23 7/8" max height:

Not sure if they are tall enough though. I know I could measure but I'm at work right now so I figured I'd get the experts advice.

For clarity, I'm looking to have jack stands on the frame and have enough height to have tires off the ground.

For a little extra height, I made up a base out of 2x4s to give another 3" or so of lift:


And no, I can't keep the tires off the ground with the jack stands, but what I do is put a floor jack under the axle, raise it up enough to put in the stands, then I remove the wheels and lower the jack down until the weight is resting on the stands. Since my static frame height is about 23.5" off the ground, I can almost put the jack stands in place with the tires on.

 

How much suspension lift were you running there? I'm assuming you have quite a bit more droop which would result in the need for taller stands than what I would need.
They also have some 30" stands for like $20 more... hmm.
I might just have to measure tonight and hold off on my order.

 

Probably 4" or so of suspension lift.

 

I'm thinking the 24" stand isn't going to cut it.

 

I have three sets of stands for depending on what I need. Small, medium and large lol! I too, have to take tires off to use jackstands but only if I'm doing axle work where I need the springs to be at full droop. Other than that a medium set of stands under the axle will work just fine. I got mine thru Harbor Freight.

 

HF 12 ton jack stands are like 30" tall. I have 8 pair and then some 6 ton and 3 ton. They are beef and painted orange you don't misplace them.

 

i just got some basic 3ton ones works fine with my 33s

 

The bad thing about the larger jackstands is that they take up more floor space--and that stinks when you are working under the truck??IDK

I use those 6 ton stands on my Dodge, and the lift the tires off the ground just fine.

They also work well on MR2's, where we have to lift the back end of the car up to get the engine out

 

Jack stands? I just pay someone to work on mine...
