I think DeWalt makes great tools but I like my Ridgid 24v LiIon drill. I own Craftsman, Hitachi and the Ridgid and the Ridgid is by far the best. The battery seems to last forever. I say Dewalt, Ridgid or Milwaukee.

Rigid is danged nice...

Crapsmen sucks. My buddies 18v drill has no stinking power..my 9.6 makita kills his. Cmon now, even new outta the box it sucked.

 

about 10 years ago, we purchased a factory recondition dewalt 18v drill, it is just now starting to burn when used. it has served us VERY VERY well. its been dropped, kicked, batteries run down till they wouldnt turn the drill with no drag, and it still runs like a champ, save for the smell of burning motor.

i highly recommend one!!!! if we had this luck out of a factory reconditioned one, i cant imagine what a new one will perform like!

 

i love my stepdads 18V dewalt. darned thing can do about anything. it just sucks im in vegas and hes in san diego

 

I work in the amusement ride business. We are constantly tearing down rides to rebuild them. Our crew uses De-Walts and we put them through there paces. Other drill motors have not held up, so we buy only De-Walts. You get what you pay for, whatever you buy.

 

Picked up an 18v Makita today from Lowes, I love it, awesome drill! Thanks for the input guys!($5 more than the dewalt model comparable to it, so I flipped a coin!)

after dumping the craftsman (literally), i bought a Ridgid buddle, and i love it. specially the batteries, they have built-in electric cooling fan so it can be rapid charged. both of mine are fully charged for 25 minutes. they are twice as heavy as craftsman, they do work twice as better.

the 2-speed swtich is a great feature for seleting slower speed for driving screws and higher speed for drilling.

basically the rule of thumb is, look at what the contractors use, they don't use crap if themselve's and familly's lively hood are depending on their tools.

Makita, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Snap-On, etc. if you are asking the "best"
