RaceRunner / SAW 2.0 Coilovers - 4th gen 4Runner & '05 Taco

About a month ago my rear XREAS shocks were running on empty. The ride with blown shocks and the 4.5" suspension lift I had was no longer very pleasant, and because the shocks were leaking, I knew a big mod would be coming up soon. After speaking with Good Times about the available coilover options for the 4th gen., I decided on Sway-A-Way's new 2.0 RaceRunner coilovers for the front. While it took awhile to get them due to a lot of confusion over at Camburg's sales department, everything was sorted out and Ryan of SAW sent them directly from him.

After uninstalling the XREAS and the crappy lift components I had been running, we installed the coilovers. Oh my goodness ... that installation was so easy, so simple, and so much quicker than spacer lifts. We cranked the coilovers up and took it for a test drive.

Having driven on them since then, I cannot say just how impressed I am with the ride quality and the performance of the coilovers in general. The ride felt even better than the stock suspension with XREAS before all the spacer lifts I tried on it. Some have complained that on previous generation 4Runners, the SAWs (2.0s) resulted in a stiff, somewhat uncomfortable ride. Something must have changed between that batch of production and the new 2.0s because there is not a single aspect of the coilover performance, feel, and look that I could even think to criticize.

All in all, the 2.0 SAW / RaceRunner coilovers have exceeded my expectations so much that I am almost glad my XREAS blew up. (ALMOST)

Will do, Lance. (I can't believe they haven't gotten you your set yet ... then again, maybe they're taking some extra time to make yours perfect!)

ha, i have a feeling they just forgot since i finally got my stock suspension back from them 2 weeks ago (and at one point they stated they sent it out back in jan!). the likelihood that i'll get my set now are slim as i haven't heard back from Ryan... well it's the last time i'll be helping them out....

but nonetheless i'm glad your set got all worked out shoot some photos over as it'll be nice to show off another quality product.

Ask Ryan if he got my voice mail from 2002, I'm still waiting too.

But I guess it dosen't matter anymore anyway.

Hmmm...I was going to send my old SAW coilovers to them for a rebuild before I sell 'em or put them on the wife's Tacoma.

It seems to me (from reading here and at TTORA) that their customer service goes in spurts and usually peaks about the time that Donahoe comes out with a new product.

yeah ... I have to admit that they never returned my calls or did much to help until I mentioned that other people were waiting to see my review and therefore they'd really need to get on the ball and ship out the CORRECT order. That was only by email, too.

Go ask Ryan to return Lance's calls ... then take a couple sets of coilovers for yourself.

aside from extra cooling and the need for the different swaybar, how different are these from the 2.5's. we have the 06 d-cab trd taco and it will see 90% asphalt. so a nice ride is a must.

hello guy's, I'm new to the site and very exited about everything I'm reading about the 4runner. I have a 04 4x4, V6 sport with the xrear system & I been wondering how remove the xrear system and what suspension lift to go with, i will like to fit 33" on my runner. So can you share with me the process and about how much $$$$ a my looking at.
I really like all the runners on this post. Can we create a gallery.

yotarunnerse...

try doing a quick search on lift under the 2003+ 4runner / 2005+ Tacoma / 2007+ FJC section and you should find more than enough info to get you rolling for approximately a few months. photos are also available there and even under the "Check out my ride" section.

Welcome to Yotatech and good luck
