Is Slaughterhouse Gulch closing?

I have heard some rumors around town that Slaughterhouse is closed or closing soon. Supposedly the landowners are fed up with people tearing the crap out of it. Not suprising. The last time I was up there (4 mos. ago) Stump Hill was closed, granted it was never a legitimate route anyway.

Can anyone confirm this? It would be too bad. It's a decent run thats close to home...

Not sure. I hear they have signs up now indicating "no shooting". I hear people are still driving off the designated trails, like up stump hill and still shooting. So it doesn't look good for that area.

I found nothing about slaughterhouse gulch closing but shooting has been prohibited cuz of bitchin land owners.I havent ever been up there, but if its anything like some of the trashy trails iv been on,its only a matter of time that the trail will close. There is only one thing I can think of that might help keep or trails open, and thats if you see some litter, pick it up,if you see some people acting unresponsibly report em.theres nothing thats going to stop stupid people from acting stupid, but that doesnt mean that it has to ruin are fun.picking up other peoples garbage isnt fun,but it helps. at least it will give good karma if nothing else.

Damn, the one weekend I actually have to work or I would be interested. Since your in the neighborhood maybe we can hit that trail sometime again soon.
I used to live up in Bailey back in the '80s and used to ditch school to go wheelin' in my friend's '78 Chevy PU;ahhhh the memories.

I might be down with that. How much snow do you think is up there? That would make all the difference since I don't have chains and I don't want to replace a fender.

sounds good, im usually down on the weekends

a few friends went up there about 2 weeks ago there was about 6-12" but it who knows what it is now.
im down to go check it out, if there's too much snow to run it safely then we'll go somewhere else or home

Dozer might have an idea since he's in the mountains...?

I made a quick run up there after work yesterday with the Camry. Let me tell you, the Camry is a lousy off-roader! Hehe...just kidding. Actually, I walked part of the trail with a flashlight. There's just a little too much snow for my comfort, so I'm going to bow out.

Let's see how it looks towards the end of February. It opened up early 2 years ago. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Sounds good, I didn't think this would go as most people were busy or the snow was too much. Thanx for checking it out, I don't like driving that far for nothing!

We're supposed to have a warm week. I took Friday morning off. So I might just roll up there and see if the warm weather melts enough to make a difference.
