Nor-cal Slick Rock 10/12/08

Went up to Slickrock for the day with my wife in our FJC ,my son, and he's wife and my 5mounth old granddaughter in there 03 TJ., and my Daughter and her husband in there 95 4runner. It was cold at the start of the trail about 26degs. and snowing. At the bottom of the trail it was about 55degs. We left the 4runner on the upper part of the trail. Its pretty much stock(a little larger tires)and with open diffs. so we thought it best to not do the harder stuff. So my daughter, son in law,and grand baby all piled in to the FJC. We also took the Kayak in hopes of using them but at 26 snowing and windy, they just came along for the ride. My wife drove the the FJC from the top of the trail to the bottom. It was her first time wheeling from behind the wheel. She did a great job and had a blast driving . I drove the FJC back to the start. On the way back I got the FJC a little wedge in between two large rocks. It took a little bumper damage to get out. The sliders got a great work out. It was a graet day. There are some pics.

Looks like a lotta fun! I wanna head up there next summer! Have you been on Fordyce? You'd make it no problem to the first river crossing!

No I haven't. Is it off of the Eagle lakes trail? How far up the trail is the river crossing?

Yeah its almost to the very end of the eagle lakes trail theres a trail head off to the right when you get up there. Its pretty gnarly and I had to be winched 3 times cause I got high centered or my tires just weren't big enough to crawl the rocks but if I had a locker and some 33's I would have made it just fine. Its a couple miles in it took about 2.5 hours or so slowly going down the trail. Its definitely not a trail to do alone! Its a lot of fun though!

Well, I suppose if the other side of the bumper matched that might be a good excuse to replace?

Hey Joey.
We where surprised too. I'll make sure I give you a call next time. This was a last minute trip. My wife called me Friday at work and said the kids want to go wheeling. Next time I should have more than a 12hr warning .

Rear Locker/front A-trac. & 95's have T-bars. Fj is more like 3rd Gen 4runners.
