My first roll

Last night, rallying down junction creek, a dirt road in Durango, I hit a patch of ice at the runout of a turn and went over the edge. I did one full roll, landing on my wheels. I landed about 45 feet below the road with a flat tire, broken windshield, and severe dent in the roof where the windshield connects on the passenger corner.

Fixed the flat, drove down to where there was another jeep road that connected to the main road, and drove out. Aside from the dent, damage was suprisingly low (I think I was in the air most of the time), unfortunately it's a huge body panel that welds to the floor. My welders are in Maryland so I'm probably gonna have to go to the body shop and pay out the arse. On the bright side this gives me an excuse to finally do the long travel lift I've been putting off, and a beefy roll cage.

I'll get some pics tomorrow, though they aren't that interesting since I didn't get that much damage.

Wow, about 25 years ago a buddy and I were rallying his Datsun 510 at Junction Creek and rolled it. We pushed the car back on it's wheels, started it up and drove it home.

Some things never change.

Glad you are ok!

That's the one, some jerk reported it to the cops, so now I have a ticket for reckless driving, and failure to report an accident to go on top of everything. I guess they thought my week hadn't been bad enough already. Earlier that day I got a ticket for going 120 in a 60 on my motorcycle too.
