Friday, Oct. 21 - Mission: pre-run Goler Wash with an eclectic group of Jeeps. These guys are from a Death Valley web site and they expedition there often. The plan was to pre-run Goler before a substantially larger group who planned to do the same on Saturday. Reports were that Goler had substantial rain damage. Not very many pics of the sole 'yota because the photographer was also the trail boss and the most experienced of the group. I made sure he spotted me thru every inch of the four waterfalls, up and down. We also stopped at Barker Ranch, the infamous location where Charles Manson was hiding out until he was arrested.

Saturday, Oct. 22 - Mission, run Echo Canyon up to the waterfall (aborted the planned run up Goler Wash). Check out Inyo mine along the way. 13 vehicles in all.

That is The Ultimate Death Valley Vehicle! At least that's what a few us us started calling it out of admiration. It is a Jeep product known as a Kaiser, or more formally as a M715. Here's some info on it posted by its owner on another site:

Yes, we did two trails/roads: Goler Wash (Panamint Mtns.), which is where the Eureka Mine and Barker Ranch is, and Echo Canyon (Death Valley), which is very close to where the Inyo Mine is. The Death Valley / Panamint Valley / Mojave Desert area is full of old mines and ghost towns.

No Hummer can touch these things... D60's frnt and D70's Rear, PTO winches, Removable soft-top's... Hummers just sit and drool...

a few of the scrapes are through to the metal, but structurally the sliders are bomb-proof and held up great. On more than one occasion they supported all the weight of one side of the Runner or the other. The factory gas tank skidplate is another story, though. The 4th gen has alot hanging kinda low, and it is in dire need of extensive aftermarket armour, IMO. I can't believe no one has made anything available on the market yet.
