Talking CO LOTS of Pics! - Holy Cross/Flat Tops/Mosquito Pass Trip: Aug 2009

Trip included:

* Flat Tops (Friday) (4 rigs)
* Camping and Night run (all the time)
* Holy Cross (Saturday) (3 SAS, 6 IFS)
* Mosquito Pass (Sunday) (2 IFS)

All were CoTTORA members and some are YT members!

Some of the camping and night run pics:

Nate's rig stuffed to the gills with dead wood!

Shawn (theJeepGuy) Trying to weld the taint (I mean fire) poker.

Jade came to visit us with the El Camino!

Then he (Jade) had a problem of glowing nuts.

The GLOWING night run begins! (1st part of HC to a little above the bail out)
The sign says:
BEYOND THIS POINT:
The trail goes from moderate to difficult
Vehicle body damage likely
Please do not exceed your limitations
Minimum Tow Truck service
beyond this point - $500

Jay fixing his glow cube...

Glowing antenna are the coolest!

The rest of this night is in video

But Back at camp got some fun glow pics!

MMMMM MollyFood (TM)

Glow cubes are essential night wheeling equipment!

Ike on same obstacle

Stryper chews it UP!

The CoTTORA Slow Kid along for the ride!

French Creek:

TheJeepGuy Walks it. (We carry a Jeep with us to deflect the crap that comes from a lot of Jeep clubs in CO. )

Ron doesn't.

*#^$@ LAYLA! She found a dead Elk and rolled in it. OOOH I was so pissed. She REAKED! Got some Fast orange and scrubbed her as best I could.

Nate's (00RegCab) Rig parked while we winched Ron out.

And then I am missing a BUNCH of French Creek pics cuz I went to help Troy fix Ron's busted CV. (Hoping Melanie has pics)

MrDoug got through just fine!

As did Scooter (Josh)

Ike didn't like the tippy line we had him on the root above French Creek!

MrDoug acted fine with it.

Stryper had the SA line dialed in

Cleveland Rock:

One of the Jeeps in front of us made many attempts and finally made it.

Kinda fun watching him go down! (Tippy)

Shawn (theJeepGuy) Unstacked the super-highway that had been stacked from jeeps before him.

So he had a MUCH harder time because there was no stacked rocks. He gave up after a respectable few tries. (He doesn;t do an optional stacked obstacle - it's cheating to him)

Layla, all clean and fresh from her Anti-Dead Elk bath managed to completely tangle herself while watching.

John, (Stealth4x4) didn't drive 14 hours from AZ NOT to at least try Cleveland rock!

The Strap crew:

Scooter got the Munny award for making it up (2nd time that week) - I have lots more vid of this!

The way back down. MrDoug on the Root!

Nate (00RegCab) lines up

Glad Ron's new shoes were nice and grippy! KM2's rock! (Especially at $300 for 5 Brand New!!! We are so good!)

Mosquito Pass (between Leadville and Fairplay) Ike and Troy and I. Unfortunatly I think I deleted the pics ont he way up, which sucks because Leadville was having boom days and was doing burrow races up to the top of Mosquito and back down again. It was insane. We passed like 30 burrows being pulled by thier racers! The pass is the highest driveable pass in CO at 13,200 feet!

Ike on the way down (Fairplay side)

Troy's POV

seeing the Jeep guy with the keyboard reminded me that I need to get some of those rollbar mounted hand holds...need some to haul my big fat butt up into the Trekker...plus they can bet moved around unlike a fixed mount tube.

Tippy doesn't get jealous anymore. She knows it's her lot in life to be a lawn ornament. And Troy's runner is named Ron (as in Ron Burgundy from Anchor man) I dunno his sister named it.

The Jeep Guy is a good friend troy and I have known for 4 years and been wheeling with in Moab a lot. He doesn't wheel with Jeep clubs because he finds them too pretentious. So seriously whenver he moves he looks up a toyota club to run with. When he moved to c-rado, he already had the hook up via me!

That was a rough day for nate. Broke 2 more CV's... we finally realized his ARM is not where it should be and may have been precipitation all these CV/HB's breaking. (He has had 4 so far)

Nice Molly.

Last weekend we did a night run too, but it was a baja run! Got to french creek in 40 minutes or so, and that was with playing on the wall.

Also, did a 15mph, high range assault down the "one way" section. It was AWESOME.

Managed to blow the air out of a beadlocked 40" tire. It was a HARD hit.
