Cool Thoughts on moving axle forward ?

OK, laying out the new build - 87 xtra cab. leaf sprun for now, linked eventually (as the $ permits). looking at 110-115ish wheelbase, on 38.5-39.5's (toy axles).

My thoughts are, move the front axle forward 6ish inches (RUF) , and move rear forward about same (56in chevys).

i know I'm gonna have to move steering box forward & cut out some rad. support. but planning to dove frontend, so not a big deal.

Shooting for a sort of "full bodied f-toy" (better COG) & with this setup, should be able to stay low lift, & still clear big tires.

So... Whats your thoughts? What probs am I going to run into? Anyone know of a biuld thread doing something similar?

edit : obviously going SAS

I could play that tune too !

Also considering, but with winch sticking out front, could get better approach angle moving axle. RUF w/ 39.5's will net "almost" 90 degrees, so theoretically would want spring mount even with front of winch.

& no f-toy for me. dont want a buggy, just the performance of one

also, engine move would only center up drivetrain weight, axle would move frame, body, & all

Physics and experience will prove you wrong, but it's your truck.

I know, I know...Negligible at best. But every little bit helps. Plus looking to keep Heater box (& factory AC) which makes firewall tub tough to do.

Do apreciate your input though Wab ! Thats why I posted the idea up, If I need talked outta it would rather it happen here than 6 months from now on the trail

If you're going to move the rear axle, now would be the perfect time to link it..
