jeopary98.. your setup is not a stock ifs rig... the p.o obviously did a really nice job on your truck.. depending on what gears are in it .. if you wanted to wheel it i would go down to 35 or 33.. and put a arb or lockright in the rear.. thats about all youll need except a winch and armor.... if you post some close up pics of your suspension system maybe we could give more pointers???

and i just want to see more of your sweet truck!

I appreciate that, I really do. I think you are right but I wish he would have done springs in the rear instead of blocks. I'm thinking of 35x14.5's when the SSR's are gone. I don't think the PO ever had it re-geared but I'm not sure. I have tried to get an answer on that but I don't know how to tell for sure. The PO told me he hadn't had it geared but I think it has been. Maybe 4.56's but definitely not 4.10's. I'd also put the locker in when I get it re-geared if I'm going to do it. If your truck is a V6 jeopardy98, it likely came with 4.56 ...

Well that would make sense. It is a V6. I also have an angle on an 84 that is being parted out on CL near me. It's got the solid axle front with posi trac pumpkin and a v6 rear 3rd with gears and a detroit locker. I've already sent the guy a message about both. Possibly 5 BFG M/T's in 35x12.5 with rims too. He has some other goodies too. I am correct in thinking that if his rear 3rd is the 8" it will fit my 95, right?

Yes, the thirds from the 84 will fit your rear axle.

IFS can handle a lot for what it is.. just wheel it till it breaks

The next set of tires I buy are gonna be 35's and I really don't'
foresee any problems. My truck sees 50/50 on and off road.

More flex on IFS can be found with removal of sway bar and bump stops. I dont recommend if its a DD. If its not its IFS who cares. When shiat starts to break Straight Axle time .

i school SAS toyotas all the time when they dont have lockers, i would have to say my set up will kick a SAS in everything but bigger rocks (handling, sand washes, dunes, jumps, soft hill climbs, etc..) so unless your IFS has falling off from wheeling it to hard start building other areas of your truck-

had 86 4runner with 31inch superswampers fully lock ifs supension it was a decent rig but did shere locking hubs all the time no problems with axles but had no real wheel travel and i did wheel this truck no show truck would of never tried wheeling with 35s did 85 axle conversion with 4inch lift loved it but very top heavy hahahahaha"rip flipper" SOLID AXLE IS A BIT NARROWOR THAN THE IFS SETUP NEED TO USE WHEEL SPACERS TO MAKE IT SAFER

You don't need 37s. Don't just jump up to some huge grand plans when you haven't wheeled the crap out of your rig already. I really wish I had just leveled the back out, thrown some 33s on, geared and locked it, thrown a bunch of armor and just wheeled it til it aaall broke. The fronts taking a beating from just a slight t-bar crank and ball joint spacers...alignments going out faster and faster and the steerings getting on my nerves.

Go for a small lift -- Thats the way to go in my opinion.

x2 I always had grand plans for an sas and going all hardcore, but you really need to decide how extreme your truck needs to be compared to your skill level (not saying anything negative about your skill level, you may be a pro for all I know). I've got a good deal of experience 4wheeling in several different types of rigs both IFS and Solid. My current setup along with a few more mods (winch, rear locker, 33x10.50-15's, sliders) Will take me plenty of places without much fear of breakage. Look at TC's rig, while I have yet to go on a run with him, i've heard plenty about its cabability and seen a few pics to give me confidence in minimal lift and tire size but lockers and armor. Your truck is very sweet, just something to think about.

awww ... shucks

Lots of runs posted on cottora and here, I'm sure we'll meet up soon.

I'm pretty happy with how the truck works, the lockers make people's jaws drop (they see a stock height truck on what appears to be stock tires walk stuff), and the armor keeps me from being pissed off at always having to be repairing the truck!

That's not to say the suspension will be stock forever, but when I do decide on what I want, I won't be changing out parts I paid for ...
