A guy at a car dealer who I know through a friend picked up a 93 T100 at an auto auction from a toyota dealer. I found out about it and have checked it out. Heres the details I know.

Its a 93 Std cab, SB. V6 3.0, 4WD. 5spd manual.
Its got 98,000 miles. It had 1 owner who appeared to take resonable care of it.

Its got a 2" lift and 31 inche tires. (wich are brand new btw) It had the lift done at the factory (I think) and it also has a touring package and an all weather package (its got a tac, and some cladding around the wheel wells) quite a bit of chrome on it too. All in all its a pretty sharpe truck. It sits a bit high with the tires and the lift but its not THAT high.

Its got a few minor scratches, and only 1 patch of rust from the exhaust on the extreme lower left hand side. Underneath it looks pretty decent. the cv/u joints look decent. I tried to see if I could tell if it was mud bogged and I couldnt find a shred of dirt hidden up underneat there (and I looked hard) so either it was owned by some cushy office jockey (like myself) who just wanted a cool truck to haul around his bike. or they cleaned the ever-loving ˟˟˟˟˟ out of it befor I seen it. The guy at the lot said he didnt do a thing to it since he bought it and that any cleaning would have been done at the toyota dealer if at all.

It runs smooth/starts smooth clutch feels very solid. Its got a bit of a whine from a belt in the front wich I was told they would replace if I bought it. I noticed a "little" bit of oil near the plugs on the opposite side of the oil input. wich has be suspecting a slightly leaky gasket. he said he would check it and fix that too because it was a fairly easy fix.


So based on what I've explained. If they changed the belt/gasket for me and did an oil change (sweetner on the deal) what do you think about a $5100 asking price? Its pretty sharpe and my internet research has it priced a BIT above that figure.

How does that price sound and is there anything else should look into befor I hand over the money?

Since it has the 3.0L V6, check to see if it has either had the head gasket recall done to it already, or if it is eligible to receive a new one. Other than that, it sounds like you have hit most of the high points. Let us know what you find out.

Toyota six-cylinder engines/engine sludge

1988-95 compact pickups, T100 pickups, and 4Runner with 3.0L and 3.6L 6-cylinder engines. The engine sludge problem affects 1997 through 2002 Toyota and Lexus vehicles with 3.0-liter, V-6, or 2.2-liter four-cylinder engines.
Problem: Defective headgaskets may cause loss of engine coolant, engine overheating, or destruction of the engine's short block. Sludge buildup may require a rebuilt engine.

Warranty coverage: Toyota will replace the defective gasket and other affected components at no charge up to 8 years/160,000 km (100,000 miles). The sludge fix has no mileage limitation.

The 8-year engine warranty is the longest in the auto industry and should be used as a benchmark when arguing for after-warranty assistance from other automakers. (For that matter, even entry-level Hyundais carry a 10-year engine and transmission warranty.)


Is this what you are refering too? if so I'm not able to get the gasket... I dont understand the sludge build up thing though...

I have a 98' T100. It was on the last boat from the japanese factory. The last production dates were nov 97' These trucks are the best p/u made. I have 86k and have never had any problems whatsoever. They have the highest rating of any used truck compact or fullsize. I knowthat only a "handful" were made and the 98' sales figures show only 8 thousand sold (too expensive and no V8). I paid 28k for mine and the sticker had been discounted over 4k! I l0ve my truck. You should get it but the 3.0 will be a little slow and you need to fix the clutch bracket. were the trucks that were made in japan of higher quality then the american makes? Or just different if so how? I'm assumming that a 93 was made in japan?

I wonder if it would cost anything to have it looked at, at a dealer. its only 2k shy of 100,000 so I had better get it in there quick to find out if anything needs replaced.

I've got a 93 T-100 4x4 too. I got it with 57K miles about 5 years ago and now have 133K. Major repairs to date: Blown head gasket(fixed under recall), 2 radiators, Minor repairs: Front brakes includeling rotors, clutch bracket replaced (cracked), 2 valve cover gaskets on the driver side, idler arm, ABS sensor. Not bad for 80K of use and 5 years. I like my truck and hope to drive it till it drops

that doesnt sound too bad! I would do a coolant flush on it as soon as I could (people always forget those!!!)

Apparently the valve cover was a little loose (explained the small amount of oil seen) it was tightened. had an oil change and I'f I bought it I would be able to take it in to have the belts replaced at no cost in about a week.

Supposeing the gasket needed replaced (hopefully the factory would cover it) And the clutch was ok (not sure. I want to have it checked though) Do you think $5100 is a good buy on this truck?

i dont know ifthe 3.0 gasket recall is deifferent then the 3.4 but i have been told therecall is still good for mine and i have over 127000 on mine but i do have the 3.4
