Stop The Horn, Please!

Stop The Horn, Please!
I have an '05 4Runner with a "Toyoguard" alarm system. Up until about a month ago it would just chirp when I set the alarm now for some reason it chirps AND beeps the horn, once when arming and twice when disarming. It is driving me nuts. No dealer seems to have a clue how to stop it, so prior to my taking a large framing hammer and smashing things under the hood until it stops, does anyone know how to do a horn defeat for this system? Thanks I pray someone knows how to do this.

there is nothing in the manual telling you how to defeat the alarm and the only thing it says is take it to the dealer. my local dealer can't even get into the system. I have contacted Toyota USA and they refer me to the dealer. This is a nightmare.

Toyoguard sounds like an aftermarket alarm company playing of the Toyota name plate. Toyota itself probably can't help since it was installed aftermarket.
Did this come with the truck when you bought it? Did you buy the truck new? It probably was a dealer installed option so you can keep pestering the dealer to fix it and see how that goes.

Time to whip out the paperwork and start doing a search on "Toyoguard". I've personally never heard of such an alarm package from Toyota. Normally, Toyota uses a derivative of the RS3200 alarm/autolocking function.
Of course, I could be totally wrong, but the paperwork you got from the dealer should help you find out who makes that alarm (even if it is Toyota) and allow you to search for support on it.
Good luck !

OK, if all you have to offer in the way of advice is "read the manual" please don't bother leaving it; naturally the first thing I did was an exhaustive search of every piece of paper that came with the truck, incluing reading the manual. If this were the RS3200 how would I do a horn defeat on that system?
