4wd sway bars on 2wd?

4wd sway bars on 2wd?
I've looked into getting Addco sway bars for my 1994 2wd and this is my question: Will stock sway bars from a 4wd improve handling since they should be thicker and stiffer than the stock 2wd bars? Will they fit easily?

The driveline is not an issue. But, I think you'll have to do some modifications. They are similar type setups, everything is beefier in a 4wd. I do know that if you have thicker bars you can get away with more lift (raised ride height), without sacrificing ride quality. And, they would be stiffer at normal ride height than stock bars.

Dijlop: Yes, I have the 22re 4cyl. What size wheels/tires are you running? What are you building your truck to do? I am imagining a Rallye-type set up for my pickup that is good (better than stock) on the road (85% of my driving) but will also give me a little more clearance off road. I added a leaf in the back and am cranking the T-bars a little pretty soon.
MudHippy: I looked at the Downey stuff and ADDCO has upgraded sways also that look like they would do the trick. I thought maybe I could find 4wd bars and brackets that are stiffer at a scrap yard and save a little money if the swap is straight forward. If that means I would have to do extensive mods though, I'll just go for the ADDCO or Downey stuff. Thanks all and keep the advice coming!

true that. im just tryin to make my truck a little bigger. im workin on my t-bars and longer shackles asap. jut waitin for some money. im runnin some tiny tires right now. lol. 215/70/r14 lookin for a slight increase. maybe 225/70/r14 or i might debo my dads wheels and go 225/70/r15 keep me updated on ur truck man. i love knowin theres someone out there with a little 2wd 4cyl. lol

Thanks for the link; I was starting to think I was the only one who had any interest in a 2wd with some ground clearance. How do you like the finished product? Is the gearing ok? How does it handle on/off road. Thanks again for the input

im very happy with the way it has turned out. it rides pretty good but it bounces a little from the torsions being cranked up and the cheap shocks i have on it. but it still a lot better ride then any lowered car i have been in or owned. as for the gearing, i wouldnt say its bad but, it did suffer a noticeable loss in power. however i can still pass others if i need to. i havent taken it off road yet because i still need to get the alignment done and before that can happen i have to replace a few worn out steering parts first. im just waiting for them to arrive at my front door.
