It was a solinoid in my auto trany. It wasn't too much $$ for the part, but it cost $120.00 in labor for my local transmission guy to replace it.
If you can, find a shop that is familiar with 'overdrive' transmissions. I got a estimate for a "transmission specailty shop" and they quoted me over $1500.00 to put in a rebuilt tranny. This guy I found was familiar with our older yotas. Cost me less than $140.00 to replace it. He didn't evan have to pull the tranny off to get to it. Good luck!
