retreads

I've searched this topic with very limited success both on yotatech and other. Has anyone had personal experience with retreads in the last 5-10 years? More specifically with: http://treadwright.com/

I really like this tire: http://treadwright.com/Tires-265_75R16_OTR_GD-P45.aspx

Has anyone had a bad experience? In Canada? Someone said that retreads on front tires are illegal in Canada, is that true?

Cheers

I heard that the re-treads are only illegal on big rigs.
I have never used, seen a re-tread tire - no help from me, sorry.

Are "Re-caps" the same as "re-treads"?
My grandpa ran re-caps on his van one time. They were decent tires but on a trip up I-5 One of them exploded after he put around 15k on them. I wouldn't buy them, but thats just me.

Thanks toy89yota, that's the kind of feedback I need. Personal experience. Do the muds grip well as Green Diamonds on hard-packed snow and ice? That's one of my concerns. I don't want a mud terrain unless it gets decent traction on the icy stuff. And by the sounds of it the Green Diamonds do.

Cheers

Retreads are illegal as steer tires on tractors. Used a lot as drive tires. I've heard lots of scary stories about retread's for years. Was riding with my uncle once when one let loose. But I'm going to order a set of treadwrights as soon as last weeks overtime hits the bank. Like everything else the technology has come a long way. What sold me was the article posted on the treadwright site from the jeep guys off road aired down story and then a year later they still liked em. Cant beat the price.

have you noticed all the pieces of tires on the side of freeways from retreads tearing off. So just pony up the dough and by some radials

I think if it's not being put a daily driver and you don't get up to highway speeds, it seems like a good deal.
