MPG for '00 Sr5 4Runner?
Took about a 800mile round tripper a few days ago to the beach in the 4Runner. It is an automatic Sr5...stock, new timing belt, belts and waterpump. 86K miles.
Had the AC on pretty much all the time. Avg speed about 80mph on highway. I was about to get about 300miles on the tank and that worked out to about 20mpg. I think best I've done on a tank of gas since I got it was around 320miles which worked out to just about 22mpg.
Around town I seem to get about 18mpg.
Does that seem about right?
Thanks,
Mike

With mostly highway driving, I can get about 20-22 mpg; mostly in town driving, about 14-16 mpg. My 2002 usually averages around 18 or so...sounds like you're in the ballpark!

I am curious how most of you guys top off your gas tanks. On my 00' I can easily add another 2.5-3 gallons after the pump clicks off. Its pretty annoying to have to baby 2.5-3 gallons into the tank to really "fill" it. That usually gets me to 300mi on the hwy. But, if I don't do it, 240-260 is about the max.
I can't seem to see any issue with the vent as it seems to vent fine otherwise. I think its just how these 4runners are. Anyone else?
Oh, and just for reference. When my light comes on, I usually can only get 13.5 gallons in it before the first click. Then I have to baby the next 3 into the tank. For 16 gallons that seems about right. Considering its a 18.2 gallon tank, the light should be coming on with 2.5 or less gallons left.
