injector pulse problem

hello. i was wondering how to check for proper injector pulse signal. i heard you test with key on for 12 volts but shouldnt have 12 volts on both sides? is this true? 1995 3vz thanks, dan

Injectors typically will have 12 volts on both sides, one is the supply power. The other side has 12 volts when the injector is off, then momentarily the ECU will ground the one side of the injectors (0 volts) to turn it on for an instant. A typical volt meter won't catch that quick pulse, so you could use an oscilloscope or a "noid" light that flashes in response to the ground pulse.
