well once you get all rust repaired what we do 4 race truck because cage is bare metal you oat it with oil or wd and it makes frame and cage plus suspension components easy to clean you just hose it off with a little pressure and dirt and oil comes right off

Depends on how much you need. Basic replacement body panels can be had on JC Whitney for like 60-120$ ea.

If the bed is too rusted up, you might consider ditching it and going with a flatbed.

Fiberglass is also very nice, but i dont really want to stick a grand into a bed when its just gonna get dinged up from wheelin anyway. Flatbed really seems like the most logical way to go... IDNFK!!!!!!!!

That is definitely you're best bet.
Just take the bed off and build a simple bed on it and you're good to go.

Thanks, alot of people do! Flatbed sounds cheaper than fiberglass, but i wasnt sure if you wanted a whole bed or not.

BTW, here's a HUGE Toy flatbed thread from Pirate:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...t=98472&page=1

Good luck, the flatbed's a good choice.

If you want to do it on the cheap, get yourself a little 110 mig buzzbox, you should be able to pick one up for under 200$ (I got mine from a buddy almost new for 1 benji). Try going by any local fabrication, welding, steel, trucking, or machine shops, and see if they have any "drop" that they will sell you. Drop is basically the pieces that are left over after they cut large chunks to size, most welding shops will sell you drop for pennies on the dollar. This wont get you all the material you need, but it may get you a large chunk of your smaller stuff.

Good luck, post some pics when you do it!

I looked at your pics of your rig, and I'm fairly sure that mine was rusted worse than yours when I bought it. It took all summer, but I now have a rust-free truck, and I cannot tell you how satifying it is to look at it now, and think of how it was before. I used a cheap but decent welder, the Lincoln Handy MIG. It only has 88 amps, but it comes ready to use shielding gas, and you don't want to weld sheet metal without that. I bought it for $300 for Sears.com, and it has worked as well as a welder worth twice as much. I figure that after buying a cheap polarizing helmet, angle grinder, argon/CO2 tank, gloves, and Evercoat Rage Gold filler (DO NOT use Bondo), it ran the total cost (incuding the welder) to about $450. I know that's kinda pricey, but my truck went from being an ugly rust bucket to a perfectly presentable rig. And I've since been able to use the welder for a custom exhaust, so I think the welder was a great investment .

But everyone's different; the flatbed might be more along the lines of what you need. Be sure to let us know how it turns out!

I agree. Fiberglas would be the only way to go where you live.
