Spun Bearings

I was wondering what the symptoms are of spun bearings on the bottom end of a '94 22r-e?
And what could cause them!
thanks!

something like the sound of a monkey with a hammer in your block beating on it.

If you spun a bearing (rod or main), you would definitely know it. Extreme metal-on-metal knock.

Oil starvation is probably the most common cause of this happening.

the bearings are also pressed in between the connecting rod and the cap. This keeps it in place.

If you have a spun bearing it will most likely seize the motor.

Lies, it might run for a bit, but it will seize up after time.

well every thing will go bad in time.

mine ran for 2 weeks with a spun bearing. rolled new ones in, and then drove it for another 2yrs. then blew a hg, built a new motor with the same crank, "machine shop said it was in great shape". 25k on new motor with the same old crank, still runs great. even after a hydro lock.

besides he made it sound like, (or i assumed) it would instantly seize after a spun bearing.

no lies, i only stated my experience.

LOL..too bad the '92 4runneri just bought has destroyed the bearings..LOL..now i gotta rip that 3vz out..rebuild it..drive it for a while..then rip it out again..and put the 3.4 in it

i've heard A LOT of old chevies and fords runnin around that sound like they have about 5 monkeys each with 2 hammers bangin on the inside of the motor....and they drive em for years..but are VERY VERY VERY easy on em..LOL

Why do you think the bearing spun in the first place? Because the crank or rod seized on it, grabbed it and spun it around. It's gonna seize again

Mine spun a bearing and I replaced that bearing and all the others with new standard sized ones. That was over the summer and its still going. Knock a bit but not that bad.

Before I replace the bearing it sounded really loud. Like the monkey and hammer I mentioned. I had a thread here
