Quick Exhaust question
I tried searching so i thought id ask. I have a cherry bomb glasspack inlet and outlet are 2.5 (i believe). How would this sound on my 3.0? And is the 2.5inch piping good? Any ideas are helpful! Ive done alot of exhaust stuff on truck before but figured id ask before i tested.

Cut the muffler out, leave the cat, straight pipe, sounds similar to a Jardine exhaust on a 3.4 Tacoma.. OR cut the cat, put the glasspack about a foot behind where the cat was and 2.25" pipe all the way out, if you don't do either one of those your wasting money and buying into the whole flowmaster=horsepower mentality, so go ahead and enjoy the hollow sound of a coffee can that flowmasters produce. It will NOT sound like a V8 it will sound like crap.

Actually it sounds good.. My sisters is straight piped and it sounds very similar to the Jardine Cat-Back on my Tacoma.. Its just a gurgling sound, flowmasters sound hollow and ricey as hell on anything but a V8, and even then they sound like crap.

i got a cherry bomb on my truck, its a little 2.4 and everyone said it would sound gay,but to everyones surprise everyone likes how it sounds. its got a nice idleing slight reving sound, but when u floor it, it lets everyone around u know u are lol. i definatly like the sound of my truck, o ya the longer the c bomb the quieter it will be id try to get the longest one and itll still be pretty loud, but in a good way, and dont go to big on the piping u neeed torque, i made that mistake.

i guess i have to respectfully disagree. I think the only way to get a nice note out of anything less than a v8 is to have a nice muffler. straights sound mean and loud on v8's, but on a v6 or 4cly sounds like a lawnmower.

Kinda a okay video, you can kinda here how the glasspack sounds. I don't have my own (working) video camera, so I take what I can get...
Anyways, I like the way it sounds

Leave the cat on. They help a TON in cleaning up the emissions from our vehicles. EGR's and Cats. And in many states (and all Canada) it's illegal to run with no cat if it came with one.
And don't anybody chime in about how they hollowed out their cat. Congratulations - you just made 1 extra HP and increased your pollution 10x.
As for the muffler, I never liked glasspacks. Tried 'em on a few cars, never really "had it". Flowmasters sound pretty decent, 2½" in and dual's out.

My exhaust broke off just aft of the cat on my 3.0.
It was loud and sounded stupid.
Not loud and cool.
Not reasonable and cool.
Not quiet and boring like everyone else's.
It was loud and didn't sound like I had a big engine, it sounded like it is, a small engine not revved high, and annoyingly loud.
BTW, welding exhaust sucks.
