Please help! Running rich

Maybe one day my runner won't have any problems but today's not that day. Leaving camping on sunday I start my truck and it dies instantly does this a few times then I start it and give it gas get it warmed and it idles low(500) and seems to bounce up a few hundred rpms I have black smoke coming from the exhaust with a horrible smell. When I drive it it feels like it has no power and wants to buck at low rpms. Replaced the air filter, didn't help but thought I should try since there was tons of dust while driving around where I was at and my filter was really dirty. Any ideas before I decided to buy something new

yes

that will help. pound on it with your fist hard and listen for loose material bouncing around in there. pull it out and gut it. then put it back on and forget about it. exhaust will be louder, but who cares? run it hard.

New symptoms I replaced the o2 sensor still no fix thinking maybe it was my vfam so I drove it to my friends a block away and halfway there it started running real bad no power when I hit the gas it was like nothing happened then it started backfiring got to his house put his vfam on and started it it idled high about 1200 but sounded a lot better not like it did before no loping sound then after about 45 seconds it would drop down and die. So I'm thinking it could be the vfam as well as something else? Any ideas
