Question Need to know will this work????

i see a cold start injector sensor online for my price range buuut its from a 93 camry i have a 93 pickup 2.4 22re. now it looks almost identical to the sensor out of my truck it just has a brown connector fitting and mine is black. Same connector but diff colors. Do you think it will work in my truck????

yeah thats what figured. I'm trying to find the cheapest ones i can so far all i can dig up is 56$ on ebay. Thanks for the reference though. lemme know if anyone comes across any maybe we can work a deal or trade.

I get mine out of the boneyard. I am a cheap scape. I have never had the Cold Start Injector itself to go bad , but the Timing Switch for it, which is located just below the Thermostat Housing. It is the brown one.

My goof; I thought you wanted the Cold Start Injector (that is where my links pointed).

I think what you want is the "Switch, Start Injector Time" (sometimes called the Cold Strat Injector Timer Switch) 89462-20040.

If you look under "Product Fitment," http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...946220040.html you will find that lots of other Toyota's (Celica's, MR2's) use the same part, but alas, no Camry's.

I wonder what would happen if I just put that number into Google?

looks like I'm gonna get the one on ebay 42.00$ and the knock sensor is 40 bucks also

I am not sure about which part number you will need, but the connector for your Timing Switch should have this connector for it. The short brown connector.

Yeah so mine is the one with the black connecter unfortunately. I wish it was that one bc i can find those for a whole lot cheaper. I asked Toyota about mine and they said they could get me one for 210$. Whooaa!!! No way hose thats close to what it cost me to rebuild the thing. So I'm going with the 40$ one on ebay. Yeah its used but its all i can afford right now. Im a specialist in the army with dependents so funds get used up fast. If u kno what i mean. Anyway I'm also interested in getting more familiar with the knock sensor. what exactly is its purpose. Can i run without or no. Im a noob but i really want to learn every little thing i can about my baby. She might be rusty but she's beautiful to me.javascript:;

No. Of course not.

The ECU constantly advances the timing, and when it starts knocking (as sensed by the knock sensor) it backs off the timing until it stops. As a result, you are running all the time at perfectly advanced timing.

What if the knock sensor stopped talking? (e.g, got disconnected) Would the ECU keep advancing the timing until you blew a hole through a piston? (That would be bad.) When the ECU "doesn't hear from" the knock sensor for a few seconds, it quickly (and dramatically) retards the timing in order to save the engine. Retarded timing: runs like crap. Fortunately, the ECU doesn't keep it a secret, it throws code 52.
