Definitely a copperhead. Beautiful animal. 9/10 copperhead bites are dry, and are almost never fatal. pretty cool pet if you can handle the responsibility ( and didn't chop its head off ) haha These guys really aren't that aggressive. they usually throw a warning bite if threatened... cottonmouths are a totally different story though. But nonetheless its still a pit viper.
( im a bit of a reptile hobbyist. ) hah

I hope you didnt let him go to waste, thats some good eating right there. Throw some tin foil on the grill, lemon and garlic and butter, throw him on there. Delicious.

hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like he was a good sized copperhead. i see plenty of the little tiny ones, but only one of that size once or twice a year around here. not to be the hippie here, but i would have let him go and live to kill pests. plus, where there is one, there are plenty of others!

I actually transported 1,980 lbs (.99 ton) of gravel later that day.....it performed superbly for the 17 miles trip.

I know, I prefer to not kill snakes, but there were a lot of kids playing nearby & this was a paid job so no time to run him off somewhere out of the way...

Wow, TN! Way to load down the truck...haha! I did that to my '86 years ago. Killed the leaf springs...pffth!
My wife's been bitten by copperheads three times. And, I've had dogs bitten. No one's ever died except one, very small barn kitten. I keep a snake pole I made from PVC and rope around. Ahhh...life in the woods.
