HELP Loose Fan Pulley!
Ok the other day I noticed a popcorn sounding noise from my truck, so I popped the hood and noticed that the fan pulley is loose. It is not constant though, it runs normal for a bit then wobbles intermittently. I took some video of the problem to show exactly what i mean by this. What needs to be done to resolve this? Does the fan bracket just need to be tightened? Is the pulley bad? Is this a problem with the timing belt?
Here is the video:

I am no expert but it looks like the pulley is turning ok it is just the plastic around the fan doing the wobbling. I would say start with a new fan.
.02 cents worth.

I say its the bearing in the fan bracket, known to go bad over time.
Take the belts loose and see if the pulley/fan has any access play at all. if so the bearing is bad and youll need a new bracket.
Check ebay for a bracket, about a 1/4 or less than what the stearlership wants for one.

Yup Snap-on you are 100% correct. I pulled it all apart, which may I note is a PITA, just as everything else on this POS engine... (3.4 swap is in sight though, within 6 months my truck will be roaring a 3.4 ) But of course in the last 6 months of service the stupid 3VZE has to give me problems and cost money.
Now... I have a question for all of you... How the heck do you get the idler pulley loose for the A/C??? I cannot get the thing to budge. Do you have to loosen the bolt on the face of the pulley? Im stumped. Either mine is seized to all hell, or im missing something.
So yeah, the truck is sitting in the garage disabled until tomorrow hopefully. Gonna need to get new belts, a new gasket for the water outlet, and obviously the new fan pulley bracket. Gonna see what toyota wants for the bracket, if it is too outrageous I will get an ebay one, but I really dont wanna wait for it to arrive.
Anyways, check this chewed up bearing! You can see the ball bearings inside, and the cover is torn up...
And what the truck looks like currently, chillin in my garage awaiting the new parts.

My experience with the 22RE idler pulleys was that the bolt in center had to be loosened a bit, then it can move with the adjuster bolt. I imagine the ones of the 3.anchor are the same.
