Yeah I guess that would be the easiest way to go about it.

I priced them out b4 and could not find them cheaper than like 500 bux

Although it would save the #6 cylinder from over heating all the time
on the other hand I read threads about people smoking speed cable and
e-brakes.

When I was debating if I should get headers or not I tried to find another solution. You could get an exhaust shop to bend up some pipe coming off the manifold where the crossover bolts onto. This would have to be about a 90* bend but then you could drop straight down and crossover under the truck like with headers. You would have to make a block off plate for the second opening on the drivers manifold where the stock exhaust bolts too. In the end I just bought headers. Either way gets rid of the crossover but I figured headers were the way to go for me.

What i did when i swapped a 3.4 into my truck, I took the original crossover pipe and cut the flanges off that bolt up to the mainfolds. From the inside of those flanges a 2" hole saw fits very nice, took out all of the original pipe that was welded in there and left a nice spot for the muffler guy to fab up an exhaust from there.

I went with LCE headers. They were $650 when I bought but now they are $800. This includes the crossover and all hardware though. Everything is ceramic coated. Wish I could tell you how they work but the truck is still sitting. LCE's header was brand new and I guess they didn't realize that the crossover they fabbed wouldn't fit on an auto truck. Auto crossover should be here this week, hot off the assembly line. They are slow(mostly to do with the new product) but the quality is nice. Some pics here:

when I convert to standard im going to use 2 passenger manifolds for both cyl banks. and use the 2 90 deg bends from the crossover tube to 90 deg down turns and then fab the rest of the system.
