1990 4Runner Antenna Nut
I am replacing my fender and therefore need to unattach the antenna from it. The first part is easy - unscrew the mast from the base - piece of cake. Step 2 I assume is to remove that little chrome (crown style) nut from the top of what is left. That thing won't move and after trying to coax it along by tapping between the 'ridges' with a screwdriver i have found that the top of this nut is very brittle and half of the 'ridges' have now broken off. I suppose because this nut has been on there for over 30 years it is a little stubborn. Any suggestions on what I can/should be doing now to get this thing off? Is there a trick to it? Thank you in advance for any/all suggestions.

Mine was a pain too and ruined the bezel getting it off. Good thing it is not discontinued, part# 86392-89105. Toyota calls it "ORNAMENT, ANTENNA"

Did you try the wrench made for that purpose? https://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-64.../dp/B004KED7KW
I was able to get mine off by gently tapping it with a screwdriver, so I can't tell you what "size" wrench you need.
