New engine time, Rebuild or buy long block.

So.... My ol' 22re bit the bullet this past weekend. Blew a hg, so now it's time to fix it. This motor has never been rebuilt so I figure if I'm doing a hg, then I should prob rebuild the whole thing since I will have it out of the truck. My question is though. I have found a 22re longblock(some assembly required). The guy who owns it says it's bored .60 over, comes with new pistons and a head, basically its a rebuild that never got finished. He only wants 250$ for it and it's local. I've never heard of anyone really going over .40 on a 22re, is this something I should be weary of? I think for 250$ it's a steal but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot.

60 over is too much.

I'd rebuild the one you got.

That's what I was thinking. .60 is like a half inch taken off. I would think the walls would be paper thin.

fyi, 60 over usually is measured 0.060" not 0.60".

uh 250$ for a machined block with pistons/rods/rings bearings is a good deal.

i was under the impression its not that 60 over is to much its that finding pistons that are 60 over becomes cost prohibitive.

If that is in INCHES, way too much.

If .60 MM, then it's .020 inches. (approx)
That's better.

My buddies pistons were stamper .50 (previous rebuild)
Scratched our heads, to find out that was Millimeters. 10 thous. of an inch standard measurment is what it was.

Haha, forgot the pistons may be stamped metric. Wouldn't trust a machinist who told me measurements in mm's in Texas, haha.
