that's funny mine, with new shoes and old cable seems to grab better going forward. sub'd for later reference.
anyone know off hand, (I haven't looked in the FSM yet) if the cables themselves are adjustable or just the drums?

There are 3 adjustments on the Ebrake system.
The Drum adjustment. Self explanatory. Tighten the shoes up.
Then there is the Bellcrank assembly. This sets how far back the shoes are allowed to retract when you let off on the ebrake.
Lastly there is the lever adjustment. It is up near the fuel filtre at the front of the truck. It has 2 nuts and adjusts how tight the cable is allowed to be pulled.

ebrake is your drum brakes in the rear, if your drum brakes are adjusted properly per FSM and you still have to pull your handle too far then the cable adjuster to make the cable tighter is under the truck on the passenger side near the transfer case crossmember. But before you tighten that cable ensure your drum brakes are adjusted properly as that 90% of the time fixes ebrake issues. But those cable do stretch over time.
It's best you download yourself the FSM use goggle to find or a search on here. It's free.
This will show you how to both adjust the drums and the ebrake cable.
However, I don't recommend adjusting the brakes if your not familiar with how drum brakes work.
