Ok, so I'v been on YotaTech fer years now but due to moving and other chaos in my life I'v had to start a new account. My problem is within the throttle action, I read a forum having to do with the throttle cable but my issue is different. I have an 85 22r 5spd 4x4 and my throttle is quite smooth, but I'm finding that when I let off the pedal my RPM's arent falling as fast as they should be, there is no binding that I'm aware of and everything operates smoothly. Was wondering if anyone has run across the same problem or if anyone has any ideas or opinions on how to fix this. I have a tendancy to double clutch quite a bit and when I let off the throttle is when I really notice this problem. Any help, ideas, or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Check for slack by the pedal, I notice that my 81 has problems with the throttle cable not returning all the way when I let off the pedal. The problem with mine is that the spring on the carburetor is weakened, or there is friction causing issues.

Also check your dashpot, may be stuck....

also download the FSM, you can get it from Pirate 4x4.

 

My truck was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the wrong spring on the carb.If I remember right it takes a double spring one inside the other.

 

any pictures on the double spring set up to compare to mine?

 

My first thought was dashpot.

At one point the adjuster on mine worked its way completely out and the RPMs would just fall super fast. If it's adjusted too far the other way it could be the reason they don't fall quickly.

 

I don't think his has a dashpot because it's carbed. I could be wrong. I'm betting on a spring broke or your linkage needs cleaned and lubed up
